"… And now is enacted a fantastic, tense drama… which is of such infinitesimal duration that the human eye is incapable of recording its amazing occurrence - - SUPERMAN RACES THE BULLET…"

— Jerry Siegel, from Action Comics #8, 1939 (this is why I love the Golden Age of Comics so much - those descriptions? Fever-dream beauty!)

Quick Thought on Grant Morrison’s SUPERGODS

While I enjoyed the read, there was one glaring problem, no doubt to my own expectations of the book. I was hoping for a 21st century version of Campbell’s Hero of a Thousand Faces, looking at our modern mythological beings, superheros. While some of the book showed that promise, the autobiographical sections killed that central conceit. Nonetheless, a worthwhile read, and one of the more interesting looks at comics.
